AN ACT TO ENABLE EFFECT TO BE GIVEN TO AN INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION FOR THE SAFETY OF LIFE AT SEA SIGNED IN LONDON ON THE 17TH DAY OF JUNE, 1960, TO AMEND SECTION 271 OF THE MERCHANT SHIPPING ACT, 1894, AND FOR PURPOSES CONNECTED THEREWITH.

—(1) Where in pursuance of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea signed in London on the 17th day of June, 1960, a passenger steamer to which this Act applies, being a registered ship, is marked with subdivision load lines, and the lowest of those lines is lower than the line which, apart from this subsection, would be the appropriate load line for the purposes of section 5 of this Act, the said section 5 shall have effect as if that subdivision load line were the appropriate load line for the purposes of that section.

—(1) Beidh éifeacht le forálacha an ailt seo d'fhonn go bhféadfar éifeacht a thabhairt do Choinbhinsiún 1974 (a chuirtear in ionad an Choinbhinsiúin Idirnáisiúnta um Shábháilteacht Anama ar Muir a síníodh i Londain thar ceann an Rialtais an 17ú lá de Mheitheamh, 1960).
—(1) The provisions of this section shall have effect for the purposes of enabling effect to be given to the Convention of 1974 (which replaces the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea signed in London on behalf of the Government on the 17th day of June, 1960).
