(5) The period prescribed for the payment of any renewal fee shall be extended to such period, not being more than six months longer than the prescribed period, as may be specified in a request made to the Controller if the request is made and the renewal fee and the prescribed additional fee paid before the expiration of the period so specified.

34.—(1) Where a registered teacher fails to apply for renewal of registration in accordance with section 33, the Council shall, upon the expiration of his or her registration, inform him or her, by notice in writing, that he or she shall be removed from the register within one month from the date of such notice unless an application is received for renewal of registration within that period together with such renewal fee for late renewal of registration as may be prescribed under section 23.

(4) A patent shall cease to have effect, notwithstanding anything therein or in this Act, on the expiration of the period prescribed for the payment of any renewal fee if that fee is not paid within the prescribed period or within that period as extended under this section.

—(1) Where a patent has ceased to have effect by reason of a failure to pay any renewal fee within the prescribed period or within that period as extended under section 26 of this Act, and the Controller is satisfied, upon application made within three years from the date on which the patent ceased to have effect, that the failure was unintentional and that no undue delay has occurred in the making or prosecution of the application, he shall by order restore the patent and any patent of addition specified in the application which has ceased to have effect on the cesser of that patent.

(6) If no notice of opposition is given within the period aforesaid or if, in the case of opposition, the decision of the Controller is in favour of the applicant, the Controller shall, upon payment of any unpaid renewal fee and such additional fee as may be prescribed, make the order in accordance with the application.
