Definition French public body (Office des Migrations Internationales) set up in 1945 under the name of Office national d'immigration, or ONI (National Immigration Office) and then renamed in 1988, which was responsible for implementing immigration policy and in particular had monopoly control over the entry into France of foreign workers who were not EC nationals. It was also responsible for assisting workers who settled abroad and enterprises which needed to recruit staff to work outside France. Was replaced in 2005 by the 'Agence nationale d’accueil des étrangers et des migrations' (ANAEM), succeeded in April 2009 by the 'Office français de l'immigration et de l'intégration' (OFII).
