    Comment Artifical reproduction technologies: The collective name for all artificial approaches used to help women to conceive. They include in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Medical Reseach Council Report 2004 Assisted conception is used equally widely without any apparent difference in meaning. Sections 35 to 47 of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008 apply, in the case of a child who is being or has been carried by a woman ... as a result of the placing in her of an embryo or of sperm and eggs or her artificial insemination, to determine who is to be treated as the other parent of the child.
