    Comment The European Political Community was initially proposed by French President Macron in a speech on 9 May 2022 at the closing ceremony of the Conference on the Future of Europe1.The European Political Community framework does not replace existing EU policies and instruments, notably enlargement, and fully respects the EU’s decision-making autonomy2. European Political Community summits are organised on a rotating basis by each participating country with the host alternating between an EU and a non-EU member state3.The European Political Community's aim is to bring together countries that may or may not aspire to join the European Union. It therefore complements the EU accession process, and does not replace it. Its first meeting was held in Prague on 6 October 2022.
