Definition test measuring evaporative emissions occurring immediately after the end of a trip due to residual fuel tank heating and the high temperatures of the engine and fuel system Reference "COM-Terminology Coordination, based on: UNECE. 'Informal Document to Amendment 3 to UN GTR No. 19 (Evaporative emission test procedure for the Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP EVAP))' (22.9.2022)"
Comment Evaporative emissions from vehicles is a complex phenomenon which depends on multiple factors, that range from climate conditions to fuel properties, from driving and parking patterns to the technology used to control these emissions. Evaporative emissions from a vehicle can be defined, in a very generic way, as Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) emitted by the vehicle itself in different operating conditions but not directly derived from the combustion process. In petrol vehicles the most important potential source of evaporative emissions is the loss of fuel through the evaporation and permeation mechanisms from the fuel storing system. Fuel-related evaporative emissions may occur during any vehicle operation including parking events, normal driving and vehicle refuelling.
