    Comment Il convient d'éviter le terme "anchois de l'Afrique australe", qui correspond au latin Engraulis capensis (IATE:917927 ). Ce terme latin, qui figure dans la liste ASFIS, ne semble pas être un nom valide (les sources scientifiques ne sont pas encore tout à fait d'accord), mais il est néanmoins utilisé pour distinguer des anchois d'une région spécifique à des fins commerciales.

    Comment Scientific sources do not agree on the valid term; for some (ITIS, Fishbase, it is Engraulis encrasicolus, while for others (WoRMS), it's Engraulis capensis. The balance seems to be in favour of Engraulis encrasicolus. (Augus 2020)But both Latin terms are in the FAO 2020 ASFIS list for Fishery Statistics Purposes, with each its code.
