- Sainmhíniú Human rights NGO set up on 13 August 1980, initially in the context of re-democratisation of South America and pacification of Central America, with the following aims: to promote the enforcement of human rights in Latin America and the Caribbean; to convene and conciliate peaceful initiatives joining efforts towards effective application of universal and regional human rights agreements; to promote and extend awareness of rights formalised in human rights instruments and the relevant mechanisms; to investigate, evaluate and act in case of violation of such rights; to support and coordinate activities of national and refgional human rights organisations.
