    Nóta "L'organisation humanitaire Action contre la Faim, a été créée en 1979. Elle fait partie de la seconde génération des ONG (Organisations non gouvernementales), celle des "French Doctors", ces médecins français qui en 1968, au moment de la guerre du Biafra, se sont révoltés contre le silence des humanitaires, liés par le secret et pourtant témoins des pires horreurs. Voulant forcer ce silence en dénonçant l'injustice, ces ONG ont ajouté le témoignage à l'action.Née dans le contexte de la crise afghane en 1979, Action internationale contre la Faim - dénomination de l’association à sa création - a été fondée par un groupe d'intellectuels français. Parmi eux, Françoise Giroud, Bernard-Henry Lévy, Marek Halter, Alfred Kastler (Prix Nobel de physique), Guy Sorman, Robert Sebbag, ainsi qu'un certain nombre de médecins, journalistes, écrivains. Alors que jusqu'ici, la lutte contre la faim était intégrée dans des combats plus généraux (lutte contre la pauvreté, lutte pour la santé, etc...), ils ont créé une organisation se consacrant exclusivement au problème de la faim dans le sens le plus large."
