- Comment Ex.: la sous-zone statistique 9 ("eaux portugaises") comprend deux divisions statistiques: 9a et 9b. NB: Toutes les subdivisions sont désormais désignées par des chiffres arabes, et non plus romains. [2017, cf rapport CIEM de 2015, point 11.5, http://ices.dk/sites/pub/Publication%20Reports/Committee%20report/ACOM/2015/ACOM_2015_December.pdf ] La FAO a découpé les eaux de la planète en 27 grandes zones de pêche (8 zones de pêche en eaux intérieures et 19 zones de pêche en mer). La pratique communément admise au niveau international consiste à diviser les grandes zones de pêche en mer en sous-zones, divisions et sous-divisions. Cette pratique a par exemple été mise en œuvre par l'OPANO, pour la zone de pêche 21, et par le CIEM, pour la zone 27.
