    Nóta Créé par la Banque mondiale au titre de la Convention-cadre des Nations Unies sur les changements climatiques, ce Fonds a pour but de mettre en place un marché du carbone forestier afin d'encourager la préservation des forêts, et ce grâce à ses deux composantes : d'une part, un Fonds doté de 100 millions de dollars proposant des subventions pour aider les pays à mettre en place des systèmes et processus de surveillance et de gestion des forêts. Et, d'autre part, un Fonds de carbone spécial - soutenu par les pays riches ainsi que par des entreprises privées et des organisations internationales - auquel les pays concernés pourront vendre leur crédits de réduction d'émissions de gaz à effet de serre.
