- Comment Official codification may be: vertical: when one basic act and its amendments are incorporated in a single new act, or horizontal: when two or more basic acts covering related subjects and their respective amendments are incorporated in a single new act/instrument and instruments amending it into a single instrument. See also consolidation [ IATE:754347 ] and recast [ IATE:788076 ]. Official codification should not be confused with codification [ IATE:844011 ] which involves the arrangement of laws, etc. systematically in a code.
