    Comment „Die Übertragung von EAV erfolgt durch direkten Kontakt mit akut infizierten Tieren vor allem über Aerosole und Sekrete des Atmungstraktes. Eine Verbreitung des Virus über Tränenflüssigkeit, Blut, Urin und Kot ist ebenfalls möglich. Bei einem EAV-induzierten Abort, stellt das stark viruslastige Abortmaterial eine wichtige Infektionsquelle dar. Ein weiterer bedeutender Übertragungsweg ist die venerische Verbreitung des Virus. Während der akuten Infektion scheiden Stuten über Vaginalsekret EAV aus.
