    Nóta Le juge d'instruction continue de jouer un rôle important dans les systèmes belges et français. Il existe aussi en Espagne, au Portugal, aux Pays-Bas, en Slovénie et en Grèce, mais n'a pas les mêmes attributions dans chacun de ces pays.En Espagne par exemple, le juge d'instruction mène l'instruction sous le contrôle du ministère public, mais jouit en pratique d'une grande indépendance.Au Portugal, l'instruction est menée par le ministère public.
