    Comment Une fraction des populations de certaines espèces du plateau continental sont présentes bien en-deçà de 400 m. Certaines espèces considérées comme d'eau profonde vivent à des profondeurs variables selon leur répartition géographique et leurs schémas de migration, de sorte que le "statut de poisson d'eau profonde" peut être difficile à déterminer pour certaines espèces.
