COMMENT The comparable term for use outside of the United Kingdom is <i>non-conviction based confiscation </i> [ IATE:3524237 ]<HR> Importantly, the proceedings are against the property itself (in rem) rather than against an individual (in person). <HR> Not to be confused with <i>confiscation</i> [ IATE:833890 ], which requires a conviction.
