    Comment Formerly also known as the "Group of Eight". Not to be confused with the G8 group of eight leading industrialised countries [ IATE:905005 ]. In May 2009 it comprised 23 countries: all Latin American countries plus the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Belize, Guyana and Haiti. Cuba joined the Rio Group in November 2008. The other Caribbean countries are represented by one of the full Caribbean members. Has now been replaced, together with the Summit of Latin America and the Caribbean on Integration and Development [ IATE:3518499 ], by the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) [ IATE:3518502 ]
