    Comment Joint technology initiatives (JTIs) are a means to implement the strategic research agendas (SRAs) of a limited number of European technology platforms (ETPs). In these few ETPs, the scale and scope of the objectives is such that loose coordination through ETPs and support through the regular instruments of the Framework Programme for Research and Development are not sufficient. Instead, effective implementation requires a dedicated mechanism that enables the necessary leadership and coordination to achieve the research objectives.     Comment Ce groupe a été créé en février 2012 à l'initiative du président Obama et de l’ancien vice-premier ministre Xi Jinping. Un total de 18 "grands fournisseurs de crédits à l’exportation" ont été invités à rejoindre ce nouveau groupe de travail. Il a été convenu qu’un groupe de pilotage, composé des États-Unis, de l’Union européenne, de la Chine et du Brésil, se réunirait avant les séances plénières du GTI. Le GTI ne dispose d’aucune présidence, d’aucun secrétariat ni d’aucun siège permanents. Les membres du groupe de pilotage organisent les réunions à tour de rôle.
