- Comment The Commission was set up under the International Convention for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (see IATE:881152 ). It meets annually and has a Council, two Standing Committees (Finance and Administration, Research and Statistics) and a Compliance Committee. It is responsible for the study of the populations of tuna and tuna-like fishes (the Scombriformes with the exception of the families Trichiuridae and Gempylidae and the genus Scomber) and such other species of fishes exploited in tuna fishing in the Convention area as are not under investigation by another international fishery organization ('ICCAT species').
