- Nóta Signed: Kyoto, 11.12.1997 Entry into force: 16.2.2005 The major feature of the Kyoto Protocol is that it sets binding targets for 38 industrialised countries and the European community for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. These amount to an average of five per cent against 1990 levels over the five-year period 2008-2012. The Kyoto Protocol was adopted in Kyoto, Japan, on 11 December 1997 and entered into force on 16 February 2005.

- Nóta Signature: Kyoto, 11.12.1997 Entrée en vigueur: 16.2.2005 Ce protocole propose un calendrier de réduction des émissions des 6 gaz à effet de serre [ IATE:835577 ] considérés comme la cause principale du réchauffement climatique. Il comporte des engagements de réduction des émissions pour 38 pays industrialisés, avec une réduction globale de 5,2 % des émissions de CO2 d'ici 2012 par rapport aux émissions de 1990. Pour faciliter la réalisation de ces objectifs, le protocole prévoit, pour les pays concernés, la possibilité de recourir à des mécanismes "de flexibilité" [ IATE:886796 ] en complément des politiques et mesures au niveau national.
