Comment Before the advent of radioimmunoassay (RIA), FSH-releasing factor (FSHRF) appeared to be separable from LH-releasing hormone (LHRH)1 by chromatography followed by bioassay for FSH. At the present time, it appears that only one gonadotrophic hormone-releasing factor exists in mammalian hypothalami and that both FSH and LH are subject to its control.Additional evidence for the existence of a separate FSH-releasing factor is based upon the observation that the maximum release of FSH from rat pituitaries which can be evoked by some side fractions is greater than the evoked by purified (or synthetic) gon-RH2 (Johansson et al., 1973; Currie et al., 1973; Bowers et al., 1973).1 LH-releasing hormone (LHRH) [ IATE:989901 ]2 gon-RH [ IATE:1274520 ]Reference: H.
