Ce terme apparaît comme restrictif dans la mesure où il ne désigne qu'un seul des groupes ethniques du pays. On lui préférera donc le terme "Kazakhstanais", sauf lorsque celui-ci se rapporte exclusivement à l'éthnie des Kazakhs.
