—(1) Fé réir forálacha an ailt seo, ní úsáidfidh duine ar bith ná ní bheidh ina sheilbh ná fé n-a chúram, in aon loch, abhainn, ná inbhear ná ar bhruacha an chéanna ná in aice leo, chun aon bhradán no breac do ghabháil, aon tsaghas soluis ná teine ná aon otar, sleagh, strócáil, gaf ná aon ionstruim eile dá samhail.
—(1) Subject to the provisions of this section, no person shall, for the purpose of taking any salmon, or trout, use or have in his possession or control in any lake, river, or estuary or on or near the banks thereof any light or fire of any kind nor any otter, spear, strokehaul, gaff, or other instrument of a similar kind.

(2) Más rud é, chun aon iasc a thógáil, go n-úsáidfidh duine ar bith nó go mbeidh ina sheilbh nó faoina urláimh aige in aon abhainn, nó ar bhruacha, nó i bhfoisceacht do bhruacha, aon abhann, aon otar, sleá, strócáil, ga nó uirlis eile dá samhail sin, beidh sé, faoi réir fo-ailt (3) den alt seo, ciontach i gcion i gcoinne an Achta seo.
(2) If, for the purpose of taking any fish, any person uses or has in his possession or control in any river or on or near the banks thereof, any otter, spear, strokehaul, gaff or other instrument of a similar kind, he shall, subject to subsection (3) of this section, be guilty of an offence against this Act.
