    Thug an tAontas gealltanas ag Cruinniú Mullaigh na Náisiún Aontaithe maidir leis an bhForbairt Inbhuanaithe ar an 25 Meán Fómhair 2015 go gcuirfí chun feidhme an rún ina bhfuil an doiciméad deiridh dar teideal “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, lena n-áirítear Sprioc Forbartha Inbhuanaithe 14, arb é “na haigéin, na farraigí agus na hacmhainní muirí a chaomhnú agus a úsáid ar bhealach inbhuanaithe le haghaidh forbairt inbhuanaithe”, chomh maith le Sprioc Forbartha Inbhuanaithe 12, arb é “patrúin tomhaltais agus táirgthe inbhuanaithe a áirithiú” agus na fospriocanna a ghabhann leo.

    The Union committed itself at the United Nations Summit on Sustainable Development on 25 September 2015 to implementing the resolution containing the outcome document entitled ‘Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’, including Sustainable Development Goal 14 which is to ‘conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development’, as well as Sustainable Development Goal 12 which is to ‘ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns’ and their targets.

    I gClár Oibre don Fhorbairt Inbhuanaithe 2030 na Náisiún Aontaithe (“Clár Oibre 2030”), sainaithníodh caomhnú agus úsáid inbhuanaithe na n-aigéan mar cheann de na 17 sprioc forbartha inbhuanaithe (SFInna), eadhon SFI 14 (“Na haigéin, na farraigí agus na hacmhainní muirí a chaomhnú agus a úsáid ar bhealach inmharthana ar mhaithe leis an bhforbairt inbhuanaithe”).

    The United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (the ‘2030 Agenda’) identified conservation and sustainable use of oceans as one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG 14 (‘Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development’).
