It is hereby declared that the countries specified in Part III of the Schedule to this Order have accepted the amendments to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil, 1954, which were adopted on the 21st day of October, 1969 by the Assembly of the Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organisation.

—(1) Féadfaidh an tAire, le hordú, na hAchtanna Loingis Cheannaíochta, 1894 go 1981, a mhodhnú, nó thairis sin iad a leasú, i cibé slí a dhealraíonn dó a bheith riachtanach chun éifeacht a thabhairt d'aon leasú ar Choinbhinsiún 1974 a dhéanfar de réir Airteagal VIII den Choinbhinsiún sin (a fhorálann go bhféadfar leasuithe a dhéanamh tar éis dul i gcomhairle san Eagraíocht Chomhairleach Mhuirí Idir-Rialtasach nó ag comhdháil de rialtais chonarthacha a chomórfar go speisialta).
—(1) The Minister may by order modify or otherwise amend the Merchant Shipping Acts, 1894 to 1981, in such manner as appears to him to be necessary to enable effect to be given to any amendment of the Convention of 1974 which is made in accordance with Article VIII thereof (which provides for the making of amendments either after consultation within the Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organisation or by a specially convened conference of contracting governments).

I, ALBERT REYNOLDS, Minister for Transport, being satisfied that the governments of the countries specified in Part I of the Schedule hereto have accepted the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil, 1954, and being satisfied that the governments of the countries specified in Part II of the Schedule hereto have accepted the amendments to that Convention which were adopted on the 11th day of April, 1962, by the Conference of Contracting Governments to that Convention, and being satisfied that the governments of the countries specified in Part III of the Schedule hereto have accepted the amendments to that Convention which were adopted on the 21st day of October, 1969, by the Assembly of the Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organisation, and being satisfied that the Convention extends to the territories specified in Part IV of the Schedule hereto, hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 19 (1) of the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1956 (No. 25 of 1956) , the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), and the Tourism and Transport (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1980 ( S.I. No. 11 of 1980 ), order as follows:
