    Where any sum is awarded under the provisions of any Act as compensation for damage, or as the value of any article, or as the amount of any injury done, it shall be paid as compensation to the person aggrieved; but where the person aggrieved is unknown, such sum shall be applied and accounted for in the same way as any penal sum; and where several persons join in the commission of the same offence, and each is ordered to pay any such compensation, value or amount as aforesaid, not more than the amount of the damage or injury done or the value of the article shall be paid to the person aggrieved, and any further sum forfeited shall be applied and accounted for in the same way as any penal sum.

    ( a ) for the payment of a penal sum and that sum has not been paid, the Court may issue a warrant of committal to imprisonment for the non-payment thereof (Form 25.5 or 25.6, Schedule B, as the case may be) at any time not later than six months from the expiration of the time fixed by the said order for the payment of that sum;

    (2) Every registration officer, returning officer, presiding officer, clerk or other person having duties in connection with the registration of electors, or the conduct of any election, who is guilty of any wilful or grossly negligent misfeasance or any wilful or grossly negligent act or omission in contravention of this Act shall, in addition to any other liability to which he may be subject, be liable on prosecution by the Minister for Local Government in a Court of Summary Jurisdiction to forfeit to Saorstát Eireann such penal sum not exceeding £100, as the Court before whom such prosecution shall come shall consider just.

    (3) An ancillary disqualification order made by a Justice of the District Court shall be subject to appeal in like manner as if such order were an order for the payment of a penal sum by the person against whom such order is made and section 18 of the Courts of Justice Act, 1928 (No. 15 of 1928) shall apply and have effect accordingly.

    And whereas the Taxing Master has by a certificate under his hand made in the cause on the day of 19 , certified that pounds was a sufficient sum to be paid into Court to cover the costs of the said respondent (or petitioner) of and incidental to the hearing of the said cause [or otherwise as in the Taxing Master's certificate] or that a bond under the hand and seal of the said A.B., and of two sufficient sureties in the penal sum of pounds, conditioned for the payment of such costs of the said C.B., as shall be certified to be due and payable by the said A.B. not exceeding the said sum of pounds [or otherwise as in certificate] with hours notice of such sureties to the solicitor of the said C.B. was a sufficient security to be given for the costs aforesaid.
