    Four fingerprints per visa-exempt third–country national should be registered in the EES, if physically possible, to allow for accurate verification and identification, thus ensuring that the third–country national is not already registered under another identity or with another travel document, and to guarantee that sufficient data are available in order to ensure that the objectives of the EES are achieved in every circumstance.

    An automated process, using the secure communication channel referred to in point (da) of Article 6(2) of Regulation (EU) 2018/1240, shall enable the EES to create or update the entry/exit record or the refusal of entry record of a visa exempt third-country national in the EES in accordance with Articles 14, 17 and 18 of this Regulation.
