The European Food Safety Authority (‘the Authority’) concluded in its opinions of 4 October 2019 and 1 July 2020 that, under the proposed conditions of use the tincture derived from Artemisia vulgaris L. (mugwort tincture) does not have adverse effects on animal health, consumer health or the environment.

Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/421 of 9 March 2021 concerning the authorisation of tincture derived from Artemisia vulgaris L. (mugwort tincture) as a feed additive for all animal species (Text with EEA relevance)

  45. #1936727

Chinn an tÚdarás freisin, go n-aithnítear go huilíoch go dtugann Artemisia vulgaris L. agus a eastóscáin blas do bhia agus go mbeadh a bhfeidhm in ábhar beatha mar an gcéanna go bunúsach leis an bhfeidhm atá acu i mbia, dá bhrí sin, meastar nach bhfuil gá le haon léiriú éifeachtúlachta breise.

The Authority also concluded, that Artemisia vulgaris L. and its extracts are universally recognised to flavour food and their function in feed would be essentially the same as that in food, therefore, no further demonstration of efficacy is considered necessary.

Cé nach n-údaraítear an tintiúr a dhíorthaítear ó Artemisia vulgaris L. (tintiúr liathlusa) lena úsáid mar bhlastán in uisce óil, ní chuirtear bac ar a úsáid i mbeatha cumaisc a thugtar trí uisce.

The fact that tincture derived from Artemisia vulgaris L. (mugwort tincture) is not authorised for use as a flavouring in water for drinking, does not preclude its use in compound feed which is administered via water.
