    Tá Éire faoi cheangal ag Rialachán IIa na Bruiséile agus, dá bhrí sin, tá sí rannpháirteach i nglacadh agus i gcur i bhfeidhm an Chinnidh seo.

    Ireland is bound by the Brussels IIa Regulation and is therefore taking part in the adoption and application of this Decision.

    This Regulation should not interfere with the functioning of Council Regulation (EC) No 2201/2003 of 27 November 2003 concerning jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in matrimonial matters and the matters of parental responsibility [5] ("Brussels IIa Regulation").

    Ghlac an Chomhairle Rialachán (CE) Uimh. 2201/2003 (“Rialachán IIa na Bruiséile”), arb é is aidhm dó leanaí a chosaint ar na héifeachtaí díobhálacha de dheasca aistrithe éagóracha nó coinneáil éagórach agus nósanna imeachta a bhunú chun a áirithiú go dtugtar leanaí ar ais go pras go dtí an Stát ina bhfuil gnáthchónaí orthu, agus chun cosaint na gceart rochtana agus na gceart coimeádta a áirithiú chomh maith.

    The Council adopted Regulation (EC) No 2201/2003 (‘Brussels IIa Regulation’), which aims to protect children from the harmful effects of wrongful removal or retention and to establish procedures to ensure their prompt return to the State of their habitual residence, as well as to secure the protection of rights of access and rights of custody.

    Le Rialachán IIa na Bruiséile, comhlánaítear agus treisítear Coinbhinsiún na Háige an 25 Deireadh Fómhair 1980 ar na Gnéithe Sibhialta a bhaineann le Fuadach Idirnáisiúnta Leanaí (“Coinbhinsiún na Háige 1980”) lena mbunaítear, ar an leibhéal idirnáisiúnta, córas um oibleagáidí agus chomhar idir Stáit Chonarthacha agus idir údaráis lárnacha agus arb é is aidhm dó a áirithiú go ndéanfar leanaí a aistríodh nó a coinníodh go héagórach a thabhairt ar ais go pras.

    The Brussels IIa Regulation complements and reinforces the Hague Convention of 25 October 1980 on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (‘the 1980 Hague Convention’) which establishes, at international level, a system of obligations and cooperation among Contracting States and between central authorities and aims at ensuring the prompt return of wrongfully removed or retained children.
