    Mar fhreagairt ar ionghabháil neamhdhleathach Phoblacht Fhéinrialaitheach na Crimé agus chathair Sevastopol a rinne Cónaidhm na Rúise (an Rúis) in 2014 agus mar fhreagairt ar a gníomhaíochtaí díchobhsaithe leanúnacha in oirthear na hÚcráine, tá smachtbhannaí eacnamaíocha tugtha isteach ag an Aontas cheana, smachtbhannaí atá ceangailte le cur chun feidhme neamhiomlán na gcomhaontuithe a síníodh i Mionsc faoi choimirce an Ghrúpa Teagmhála Thríthaobhaigh de chuid ESCE mar fhreagairt ar an ngéarchéim san Úcráin agus thart uirthi (“Comhaontuithe Mhionsc”), smachtbhannaí maidir le gníomhaíochtaí lena mbaintear an bonn d’iomláine chríochach, de cheannasacht agus de neamhspleáchas na hÚcráine nó lena ndéantar bagairt orthu, agus smachtbhannaí mar fhreagairt ar ionghabháil mhídhleathach Phoblacht Fhéinrialaitheach na Crimé agus chathair Sevastopol a rinne an Rúis.

    In reaction to the illegal annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol by the Russian Federation (Russia) in 2014 and to its continued destabilising actions in eastern Ukraine, the Union has already introduced economic sanctions linked to the incomplete implementation of the agreements signed in Minsk under the auspices of the OSCE’s Trilateral Contact Group in response to the crisis in and around Ukraine (the ‘Minsk Agreements’), sanctions with regard to actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, and sanctions in response to the illegal annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol by Russia.
