"authorised", in relation to a traffic sign or a roadway marking, means authorised by the appropriate article of the Road Traffic (Signs) Regulations, 1962 to 1980;

"road verge" means that part of the public road which is not a footway, a grass margin, a median strip or a roadway;

"roadway" has the same meaning as in section 3 (1) of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961);

Le Riail 7 toirmisctear locadh i limistéir ina bhfuil acomhail bóthair agus ar stráicí róid ar a bhfuil líne bhán leanúnach údaraithe nó níos mó ná líne amháin den sórt sin.
Rule 7 prohibits parking in the area of road junctions and on stretches of roadway on which an authorised continuous white line or more than one such line is provided.
Déantar foráil le Riail 8 nach ndéanfar feithiclí a locadh níos mó ná 18 n-orlach ó chiumhais róid.
Rule 8 provides that vehicles shall not be parked more than 18 inches from the edge of a roadway.

If the Commissioners shall in exercise of the powers given them by this Act require any portion of the plots marked 12a and 14 on the deposited plans and described in the book of reference as "roadway electric wire and pole" and "quay railway sidings roadway mooring posts electric lighting poles and wires water mains" respectively the Commissioners shall at all times hereafter afford T. & J. Connick & Company full and free right of passage over and across the said plots so acquired along all existing roadways thereon to and from the premises of T. & J. Connick & Company to the present or any future Quay Front for all purposes, and the Commissioners shall not obstruct or interfere with the existing roadways unless equal facilities of access are provided for T. & J. Connick & Company.

"(3) Notwithstanding paragraph (1) (f) or (1) (g) of this bye-law, a vehicle shall not be parked on the part of a roadway immediately adjacent to either side of a median strip for the purpose of enabling goods to be loaded in or on to it or unloaded from it or for the purpose of enabling a passenger to enter or leave it.".

"(4) ( a ) This paragraph applies to a container which contains, or is intended to contain, refuse, rubble or similar material and is so constructed as to be capable of being attached to, or lifted by, a vehicle to facilitate the removal of the container from a roadway or footway.

( b ) A person shall not deposit, or allow to remain, a container to which this paragraph applies, on a roadway or footway during a period when vehicles are required to be lighted unless the container is so lighted as to be clearly visible, and does not cause any danger to other road users.
(c) Ní dhéanfaidh duine coimeádán, lena mbaineann an mhír seo, a fhágáil ar ghlan bhealach ná ní ligfidh sé dó fanacht ar ghlan bhealach ag tráth ar tréimhse glanbhealaigh é don ród sin, ná ní fhágfaidh sé é, ná ní ligfidh sé do fanacht, ar chosán atá tadhlach le glan bhealach ag tráth den sórt sin.
( c ) A person shall not deposit, or allow to remain, a container to which this paragraph applies, on a clearway at a time which is a clearway period for that roadway, or on a footway adjoining a clearway at such a time."

A vehicle parked at the edge of a roadway shall be parked with a side of the vehicle parallel to the edge and within 18 inches thereof unless parking is permitted with the front or rere of a vehicle to the edge and such a permission is indicated by means of a traffic sign, and in such a case a vehicle shall be parked as so permitted, as near as practicable to the edge and in such a manner that any part of the vehicle extending over a footway does not obstruct pedestrians thereon.

(4) Where a laden trailer of a vehicle carrying a scheduled substance by road is uncoupled and left at a place on a roadway more than 10 metres (32.8 feet) from the drawing vehicle, the trailer shall be equipped with at least one fire-extinguisher complying with paragraph (1) (b) of this Regulation.

These Regulations provide for the use of Irish wording for roadway markings and information plates provided in connection with bus lanes and bus only streets, either as an alternative to, or in conjunction with the English version.
