    Comment As at 5 October 2011, ITIS is not recognising suborders in the Strigiformes. Therefore Caprimulgi, Caprimulgiformes are considered junior synonyms of Strigiformes. ITIS expert Dr Richard Banks considers Steatornithes as a junior synonym of Caprimulgi; ITIS recognises it as a synonym under Strigiformes "for the time being". [5.10.11]
