    Comment The International Protection Appeals Tribunal (IPAT) was established in accordance with section 61 of the International Protection Act 2015. That act entered into force on 31 December 2016, at which time the functions of the former Refugee Appeals Tribunal transferred to IPAT. Similarly, on the appellate level, from 31 December 2016, the Office of the Refugees Commissioner (ORAC) was abolished and replaced by Office of International Protection (IPO).
