    Definition The Treaty on the Establishment of the Central Asian Cooperation Organization (CACO) was signed on February 28, 2002 in the city of Almaty (Kazakhstan). The CACO succeeded the Central Asian Economic Community (CAEC) created in 1994. The CACO included Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.     Comment At the Astana Summit held on December 27, 2002 in Kazakhstan the heads of the member states of the CACO confirmed that the CACO project met the strategic interests of their countries. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed to create the common economic space within the CACO.In February 2004 the Parliament of Kazakhstan was the first of the Central Asian countries to ratify the Treaty on the Establishment of the Central Asian Cooperation Organization (CACO).On October 7, 2005 at the CACO summit held in St.-Petersburg there was taken a decision to merge the Central Asian Cooperation Organization (CACO) with the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC).In October 2005, Uzbekistan applied for membership in EAEC. OCAC has de facto dissolved on 25 January 2006, when Uzbekistan joined EAEC. But later in 2008 Uzbekistan has decided to temporarily suspend its membership.
