    coil box

Definition "device which is used for coiling and uncoiling hot rolled bars by transfering the hot rolled bar from the 'roughing mill' to the 'finishing mill' while preventing the temperature of the bar from decreasing" Reference COM-Terminology Coordination, based on: European Commission. DG ENV. Correspondence dated 25.5.2022
Comment In rolling mills with limited facility length a coil box can allow a rolling mill to be designed which occupies a shorter area than a traditional rolling mill. By coiling the steel band not only requires less plant space, it also makes it easier to equalise the temperature throughout the coil.
