Definition form of highly efficient energy generation technology that combines a gas-fired turbine with a steam turbine, therefore using two thermodynamic cycles, that is heat from the flue gas of a gas turbine (operating according to the Brayton cycle to produce electricity) is converted to useful energy in a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), where it is used to generate steam, which then expands in a steam turbine (operating according to the Rankine cycle to produce additional electricity) Reference "COM-Terminology Coordination, based on:1) BusinessGreen. Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT), http://www.businessgreen.com/bg/glossary/1807455/combined-cycle-gas-turbine-ccgt [8.3.2017] & 2) European Commission. Joint Research Centre. Comment "The design uses a gas turbine to create electricity and then captures the resulting waste heat to create steam, which in turn drives a steam turbine significantly increasing the system's power output without any increase in fuel. The technology is typically powered using natural gas, but it can also be fueled using coal, biomass and even solar power as part of solar combined cycle plants.
