    Comment Les dauphins qui habitent la mer Noire sont génétiquement et morphologiquement distincts des autres populations de grands dauphins de la Méditerranée orientale et occidentale et du nord-est de l’Atlantique. Pour cette raison, ils sont reconnus comme une sous-espèce endémique exclusive de cette zone. Nous ne connaissons pas sa population totale, mais il est probable qu’elle soit inférieure à 1000 individus. Cette espèce [grand dauphin de la mer Noire] est présente partout dans la mer Noire, y compris dans le détroit de Kertch, la mer d’Azov et les détroits turques.
