    Comment Thermal oxidation is a wide term that can be applied to a number of processes. Generally speaking, it means that there is an oxidation reaction (i.e. addition of oxygen in a compound) taking place under (high) temperatures. Not all oxidative processes are combustion, but combustion is a type of oxidation.
