    Comment Bei der Herstellung wird Silizium, Cadmiumtellurid oder Kupferindiumdiselenid in einer dünnen Schicht auf ein Trägermaterial, zum Beispiel auf Glas, aufgedampft, beziehungsweise aufgesprüht. Eine Schicht ist nur rund ein Mikrometer dick. Dünnschichtmodule haben allerdings einen geringeren Wirkungsgrad als andere Solarzellen und benötigen deshalb mehr Fläche.
