- Comment La nouvelle stratégie s'inscrit dans le prolongement de la stratégie de l’UE pour la sécurité et le développement au Sahel adoptée en 2011 (axée alors sur le Mali, la Mauritanie et le Niger) et révisée en 2014 (pour inclure le Burkina Faso et le Tchad). Ces cinq États constituent le cadre géographique principal du G5 Sahel.
