    Comment (1) Any individual who owes or who is alleged to owe maintenance, not used in that sense in UK . (2) A debtor in respect of a maintenance order is a person whom a court has ordered to pay money periodically (Magistrates Act 1980 Section 59). In the absence of court intervention a child is owed an obligation of maintenance by his parents, but is not owed money by his parents who are not debtors in sense (2) but if his parents separate the non-resident or absent parent can have a duty to maintain the child (the maintenance creditor) [UK_EAW].
