    Comment Zwischen den Inseln strömt der Gezeitenfluss durch tiefe Priele, den sog. Tiefs oder Seegaten in das Watt. Dort verästeln sich die Wasserströme zu feineren Prielen und Rinnen und die Wassergeschwindigkeit verringert sich. Zu den Rückseitenwatten gehören die Watten vor West- und Ostfriesland.
