    Comment Les clients légers et autres types d'équipements «légers» réalisent toutes les opérations informatiques via une connexion réseau à un serveur central et n'effectuent qu'une faible partie du traitement sur le matériel lui-même. Le choix de ce terme s'explique par le fait que les petits ordinateurs au sein des réseaux sont généralement des clients et non des serveurs. En général, les clients légers sont gérés de manière centralisée. Ils sont moins vulnérables aux attaques et sont censés avoir un cycle de vie plus long, utiliser moins d'énergie et être moins coûteux à l'achat.
