    Comment "Au niveau intermédiaire, l'Angleterre est divisée en comtés [IATE:3552794 ], eux-mêmes subdivisés en districts (274 districts en 2013: 36 métropolitains et 238 non métropolitains). En 1985/1986, les districts métropolitains ont hérité de l'essentiel des compétences de leur comté. Dans certaines zones, les comtés et leurs districts ont été fusionnés pour donner naissance à un échelon territorial unique: les autorités unitaires [IATE:3552804 ]. Les autres entités territoriales aux autres échelons sont: au niveau supérieur, la région [IATE:3537383 ] et, au niveau inférieur, la paroisse civile [IATE:3552832 ]. La région de Londres repose sur un découpage différent: le Grand Londres [IATE:3563073 ], divisé en boroughs ou arrondissements [IATE:3552833 ]. Les autres nations constitutives du Royaume-Uni (Écosse, pays de Galles et Irlande du Nord) possèdent chacune leur propre système d'organisation territoriale."
