Definition EU communication exercise whereby EU officials from the EU institutions return to their former schools to share their personal experience of the EU and discuss a variety of EU topics with pupils Reference "COM-EN based on: European Parliament > Parliamentary questions, 16 July 2015, Answer given by President Juncker on behalf of the Commission, Question reference: E-006904/2015, http://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/E-8-2015-006904-ASW_EN.html [1.3.2019]"
Comment Pupils get to ask a number of questions varying from education opportunities, working and living abroad to the use of languages. They can find out more about EU careers or educational programmes such as Erasmus+. The Back to School exercise is coordinated by the European Commission. In some countries (Austria, Germany and The Netherlands), the national governments organise the Back to School exercise themselves. The national governments often send their officials back to their old school.
