Inflection
In every cluster, Irish-language surnames are accompanied by their inflected forms. These inflected forms are generated programmatically from the base form using an expansion algorithm developed for this project. The expansion algorithm recognises which inflectional pattern the surname belongs to. It outputs the nominative, genitive and vocative case forms for the male, wife and daughter forms of the surname. While these forms represent traditional usage of surnames, it is nowadays acceptable to use the base form and its inflections for people of any gender.
