    Comment In einem Tiegel befindet sich eine gereinigte Schmelze eines bestimmten Materials (u.a. Saphir-Crackles). Von oben wird ein an einem langsam rotierenden Metallstab befestigter, orientierter Keim (Impfkristall) in die Schmelze getaucht, langsam wieder nach oben gezogen, während die Schmelze infolge Unterkühlung an der sich bildenden Grenzfläche erstarrt. Durch Variation von Ziehgeschwindigkeit und Temperatur wächst der Kristall. Die Kristallsäule wird als Ingot bezeichnet.
