- Comment The Committee took up its duties on 24 November 2003. Its role was clarified by Decision 2009/79/EC, which repealed and replaced the earlier Decision.The Committee advised the European Commission, in particular as regards the preparation of draft implementing measures in the fields of insurance, reinsurance, occupational pensions and financial conglomerates, on its own initiative or at the request of the Commission. It was composed of high level representatives from the national public authorities competent in the field of supervision of insurance, reinsurance and occupational pensions in the EU's Member States.On 1 January 2011 it was replaced by the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority [ IATE:3506226 ] established by Regulation (EU) No 1094/2010 [ CELEX:32010R1094/EN ].

- Definition Institué par une décision de la Commission, ce comité consultatif indépendant a pour mission de conseiller la Commission, soit à la demande de celle-ci, soit de sa propre initiative, notamment sur les projets de mesures d'exécution à élaborer dans les secteurs des assurances, de la réassurance et des pensions professionnelles.Il contribue en outre à l'application cohérente des directives communautaires et à la convergence des pratiques prudentielles des États membres dans toute la Communauté.Il constitue également un forum de coopération entre les autorités de contrôle, notamment par l'échange d'informations sur les institutions soumises au contrôle. - Comment Le comité est composé de hauts représentants des autorités publiques nationales compétentes en matière de contrôle des assurances, de la réassurance et des pensions professionnelles. Chaque État membre désigne les hauts représentants de ces autorités qui participeront aux réunions du comité.La Commission est représentée aux réunions du comité; elle désigne un haut représentant qui participe à tous ses débats.
