Comment Used to classify virus strains: for example, in the case of Newcastle disease, virus strains are classified on the basis of MDT as velogenic (taking under 60 hours to kill), mesogenic (taking between 60 and 90 hours to kill) and lentogenic (taking more than 90 hours to kill).
