    Comment The T in T cell stands for thymus. The thymus is the bodily organ where T cells mature. This type of T cell is severely decreased in number in patients suffering from AIDS.

    Comment Les lymphocytes T auxiliaires sécrètent deux facteurs: l' interleukine 2 et l' interféron gamma. Le VIH a un tropisme pour les lymphocytes T auxiliaires car ils possèdent la molécule CD4. L'une des manifestations biologiques du SIDA est donc la disparition des lymphocytes auxiliaires chez le malade. ;
